Background
Established in 1999 and initially named JOHNSON Bimbingan Belajar Matematika dan IPA, it was once a small mathematics and sciences course at Jalan Thamrin No. 61-C. The name itself was taken from the founder’s name, Mr. Johnson, ST, and the small company of sole-proprietorship, has now been expanded to three additional branches in Medan.

In the beginning, there were just about 100 students studying there, with only 2 classes and 4 teaching staff. Programs offered were local and overseas curriculum for Mathematics. Most of its students also get the chance to apply for the ASEAN Scholarship to pursue their Secondary Education at top ranked Secondary Schools in Singapore – Anglo Chinese School (ACS), Singapore Chinese Girl’s School (SCGS), Anderson Secondary School, Nanyang Girls’ Secondary School and other Singapore Government Schools.

In 2001, JOHNSON Bimbingan Belajar Matematika dan IPA moved to a new location at Jalan Jambi No. 27-A, having over 300 students handled by about 10 teachers. At that time, besides local curriculum, it also provided preparation for Physics and Chemistry (O-level and A-level) in order to meet the scholarship requirements. Ever since, the number of students awarded the scholarship to study at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and National University of Singapore (NUS) has continued to increase year by year. Besides that, every year, it also has several students who achieve the prestigious MONBUKAGAKUSHO scholarship to study in Japan.

In 2004, JOHNSON Bimbingan Belajar Matematika dan IPA moved to a new location at Jalan Kalimantan No. 18F. Equipped with better facilities to support the conducive-learning environment, at that time, it has over 1200 students total in number. Some of them take the local program, others opt for overseas program, and majority takes both. In 2005, JOHNSON opened up new classes for Science Subject and resulted in an overwhelming response till the idea came up to open a new branch. Our first branch is at Kompleks Taman Multatuli Indah Blok AA No. 5, which will be moved to a new building at Blok CC No.9-10-11 in this coming March 2008. More than 50 new teaching staff were trained and hired to serve the classes.

As the demand keeps on growing, JOHNSON Bimbingan Belajar Matematika dan IPA started to operate the second and third new branch at Jalan Jambi No. 31-D and Jalan Aceh No.111 in July 2006. Some new programs offered are Accounting, Business English, Maths AO-Level and English. As such, JOHNSON Bimbingan Belajar Matematika dan IPA has now changed its name to JOHNSON Bimbingan Belajar with over 2000 students, 150 ASEAN scholars, over 60 NUS scholars, and approximately 100 NTU scholars.

In addition, serving as the representative of Singapore Polytechnic International and Anglo Chinese School (International), we ensure accurate and reliable information in counseling our students. Besides that, we have just been recently awarded as one of Singapore Education Specialists in Indonesia by Singapore Education.
